Delhi Lt. Governor Najeeb Jung reviewed the implementation of the summer action plan of the Delhi Jal Board (DJB) on Thursday at his official residence Raj Niwas in the presence of the chief secretary and other senior officers of GNCT of Delhi.

The CEO of the DJB informed that as committed in the summer action plan, the DJB has ramped up water production and tanker services.

By optimizing all the resources, current production at the plants has been achieved as per the target, 830-833 MGD(Million Gallons per Day), in peak summer.

The water production is being monitored through flow-meters at the outlet points at each plant.

Timely completion of the preventive maintenance work at all the water supply installations have made it possible to meet the target and to provide improved water availability to the citizens of Delhi during summer.

The Lt. Governor was further apprised that this year the tanker services have also been considerably ramped up and DJB is providing more than 5100 trips per day as compared to 4100 trips per day last year.

It is pertinent to mention that this significant increase has been largely achieved by improving efficiency of tanker delivery services resulting in increase in the number of trips per tanker, with only a slight increase in the number of tankers as compared to last year.

By adding 23 additional water filling hydrants, improved filling efficiency of the tankers has resulted in considerable reduction in the turnaround time of tankers.

All water emergency control rooms are working around the clock to address public complaints for ensuring a comfortable summer to the citizens of Delhi.

The Lt. Governor further inquired about the action taken pursuant to the directions issued by him in the meeting held on April 23.

The CEO of the DJB informed that action has been taken as per the directions to engage retired ministerial staff to overcome the issue of staff shortage.

Further problem of spilling of tankers has already considerably reduced because of deployment of stainless steel tankers.

The Lt. Governor also reviewed the working of the Central Control Room of DJB.
