Delhi polls results: 'Too early to say anything', says Maken

With the early trends suggesting a lead for the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Congress' chief ministerial candidate Ajay Maken on Tuesday said that it is too early to say anything as the counting of votes has just begun.

"It is too early. The voting count has just begun. Let's wait. It is just a matter of an hour or two. So, let's just wait for the full results to come out, only then I will be able to react," Maken told the media here.

"Even if we are getting two out of 10 or 12 odd seats, so it is better than the exit polls at least," he added.

According to reports, the AAP is leading in 21 seats, while the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is ahead in 11 seats. The Congress is leading in just five seats.

Five out of seven exit polls have predicted that the Arvind Kejriwal-led Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) may return to power once again in the national capital, with the second place for the BJP. The Congress, which ruled Delhi for 15 years, has been placed at a distant third.

Counting of votes has begun for the Delhi Assembly elections. It is being carried out at 14 centres across the city amidst tight security. The counting started at 8 a.m. and all results are expected to be out by afternoon.

The Election Commission has made elaborate arrangements for the counting of votes. Counting is taking place at 14 centres in nine districts of the national capital.

A three-tier security has been put in place at all the 14 counting centres.

A voter turnout of 67.08 percent was recorded in the polling for the 70-member Delhi Assembly. A total of 673 candidates are in the fray this time.
