Bal Bharti Public School, Pitampura, New Delhi was adjudged the winner at India's first ever quiz competition on psychology, PSYCH-ED today at Fortis Memorial Research Institute, Gurgaon.
The five other schools which participated as zonal finalists in the final round were Bhavan Vidyalaya, Chandigarh; Christ Church, Jabalpur; The Daly College, Indore; Maharaja Swami Mansingh Vidyalaya, Jaipur and Shri Kumaran's Children's Home, Bengaluru.
The Department of Mental Health and Behavioural Sciences at Fortis Healthcare was the brain behind India's first ever exclusive quiz competition on psychology for students from Class XI and XII.
The first round was held in August for which students from more than 200 schools in India pan India registered for the quiz that tested and evaluated their knowledge of psychology and allied sciences.
The entire event was conceptualized and led by Dr.Samir Parikh, Director, Department Mental Health and Behavioural Sciences, Fortis Healthcare.
Congratulating the winning team, Dr Samir Parikh said,"The Psych-Ed quiz initiative aims to foster the concepts of creative and critical thinking, mental agility and self-reflection. It is remarkable how aware and knowledgeable today's generation is. If I had been in their place, I would have found it very difficult to answer the questions the way all these teams did. My sincere congratulations to the winning team - I wish them a bright future."
Presenting the citation and a cheque to the winning team, Bhavdeep Singh, CEO, Fortis Healthcare said, "The enthusiasm and energy shown by the children was amazing. Fortis Healthcare constantly seeks to develop unique initiatives which can move beyond standard healthcare. I am thankful to Dr Parikh and his team for initiating Psych-Ed, which has generated so much interest among school children and witnessed the involved of more than 200 schools across the country. I wish them success and good luck in all their endeavours."
The Psych-Ed complete quiz process was as follows:
Round 1
Each participating school was required to nominate a team of five students (3 primary and 2 substitutes) from Class XI and XII for the first online round
This round was conducted online (through the quiz microsite) within the premises of each school
Round 2
Teams qualifying for the zonal round were intimated within 10 days of the Online Qualifier
The top ten qualifying schools (Teams of 3 primary students) from each zone were invited to participate in the zonal qualifying round. The zonal qualifier was conducted in six cities - Delhi-NCR, Mumbai, Bangalore, Kolkata, Jaipur and Mohali.
The winner of each zonal qualifier was invited for the final which was held today in Delhi/NCR.
