Unseeded Sindhu claimed a 21-18, 21-19 win over sixth seed and former world champion Wang Yihan in a thrilling contest that lasted 45 minutes.
The 20-year-old from Hyderabad will next face world champion Carolina Marin in the semis on Saturday.
