Five current and former players of Nepal national team have been suspended from football-related activities following match-fixing charges against them.
According to the Reuters, Nepal's Football Association (ANFA) has confirmed the news, saying the national team's skipper Sagar Thapa along with Sandeep Rai, Ritesh Thapa, Bikash Singh Chhetri and coach Anjan KC are being investigated over match-fixing allegations.
The statement by ANFA added that the organization is barring all the four players from taking part in the game until the case is cleared.
Meanwhile, police superintendent Sarbendra Khanal affirmed that the charges are not yet confirmed, but added that the players would remain in custody for the time being.
Last year, some officials from ANFA had asked the football governing body namely FIFA to start investigation against Nepal's governing body following financial irregularities during the tenure of President Ganesh Thapa.
