British snooker player Stephen Lee has reportedly submitted an appeal against his 12-year ban for match-fixing.

The former world number five was banned following a tribunal hearing after he was found to have manipulated the outcome of seven matches in 2008 and 2009, including three in the Malta Cup in 2008, two at the UK Championship in the same year, one at the 2009 China Open and one at the 2009 World Championship.

According to the BBC, Lee, who is the winner of five ranking titles, had said that he was 'devastated' at the outcome of the tribunal, following which he has appealed against his ban and is fighting the sanction, findings and costs imposed on him.

The sport's governing body said it was 'the worst case of corruption' it has ever seen, but the Englishman insists that he has done nothing wrong.
