Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has asked developed countries to take on more responsibility for tackling challenges related to climate change.
He said that Pakistan is also ready to contribute to this global effort.
"Though Pakistan has minimum level of carbon emissions, we will contribute in the global efforts to tackle the climate change issues," Sharif told media here soon after his arrival to attend the 21st UN Climate Change Conference on Monday.
Sharif, according to the Dawn, is expected to deliver his speech today.
In all, 147 world leaders will be in attendance and will give their views and perspectives on what needs to be done to arrest alarming levels of global warming.
They include Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, U.S. President Barack Obama, Russian President Vladimir Putin, Chinese President Xi Jinping and British Prime Minister David Cameron.
Sharif said that Pakistan will present its point of view before the world and will also listen to the point of view of other countries. He also confirmed that he would be holding meetings with other world leaders on the sidelines of the conference.
Sharif had arrived in Paris from Malta, where he was on a state visit.
