Digvijay Singh asks TDP, YSR Congress, CPI not to boycott GoM on Telangana

Congress general secretary Digvijay Singh on Friday asked the Telugu Desam Party (TDP), YSR Congress and the Communist Party of India (CPI) to give their suggestion to Group of Ministers (GoM) and not to boycott the meeting.

"The term of reference of GoM specify certain issues. The GoM will be discussing these issues on the basis of the suggestion which come to them through website or through the political parties," Singh told media here.

"I would urge upon the TDP, the YSR Congress and the CPI not loose this opportunity of raising the issues which are importance for Seemandhra people, if they are well-wishers of Seemandhra," he added.

The third meeting of the Group of Ministers (GoM) to consider the issues regarding the bifurcation of the State of Andhra Pradesh and formation of the new State of Telangana held here yesterday discussed the revised status notes sent by the Ministries and the Departments of the Government of India.

The GoM decided to meet the Secretaries of the Ministries / Departments of the Government of India on 11th of this month to seek clarifications on some of the issues.

The GoM appreciated the overwhelming response of the people. About 18000 suggestions were received regarding the issues covered under the Terms of Reference of the GoM through e-mail or post from the public and other stakeholders of Andhra Pradesh.

The GoM also decided to meet the representatives of the recognized political parties of Andhra Pradesh on November 12 and 13. It decided to meet again on November 18 to hear the views of the Union Ministers who hail from the State of Andhra Pradesh.

Yesterday's meeting was held under the chairmanship of Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde, and was attended by Finance Minister P. Chidambaram, Petroleum Minister M. Veerappa Moily, Rural Development Minister Jairam Ramesh, and Minister of State in the Ministry of Personnel and PMO V. Narayanasamy.
