Disgraced cyclist Lance Armstrong has reportedly returned his Olympic bronze cycling medal to the US Olympic Committee (USOC), which he won at the 2000 Sydney Olympics.

Armstrong's action is the latest fallout from his confession to using performance-enhancing drugs, with the report adding that the International Olympic Committee (IOC) in January vacated the medal Armstrong won in the road time trial.

According to Stuff.co.nz, Armstrong had tweeted a photo of the medal and its blue ribbon along with a message that the '2000 Bronze' is back in possession of the USOC and will be in Switzerland, adding that a USOC spokesman confirmed the medal's return.

The IOC however, said that it will not reallocate Armstrong's bronze medal to Spanish rider Abraham Olano Manzano, who finished fourth in Sydney, just as cycling's ruling body decided not to declare any winners for the Tour de France titles once held by Armstrong.

According to the report, Armstrong, who has been stripped of the seven Tour titles he won from 1999-2005, won the bronze medal two months after winning his second Tour de France title.
