In a nationwide secret drive against government officials in connection with disproportionate assets, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has reportedly seized approximately Rs 38.47 crores and registered 14 cases against 16 officials in the last 15 days.
Out of the 16 officials, six are Grade-A officials, three are Grade-B and five are Grade-C officials.
During the drive in operation from May 16-31, the CBI booked six Grade-A officials - including Ashutosh Kumar Singh, Deputy general Manager (DGM), Ministry of Handloom and Textile, and seized around 25 crores from his possession; Narayan Singh, senior manager, electronics and telecommunications, Bharat Coking Coal Limited, Dhanbad, and seized around Rs 1.9 crores; Chinmoy Goswami, administrative official, MIACL, Behranpur, Murshidabad, and seized approximately Rs 3.87 crores (his wife is also involved); Agnelo Fernandis, passport officer, Goa, and seized Rs 62.4 lakhs; Sanjay Punjab Rao Thokal, deputy manager, Regional Office , New India Insurance, Surat, and seized around Rs 52 lakhs; and Ashok Raj, superintendent, Central Excise Service Tax, Madurai, and seized approximately Rs 41.9 lakhs.
