Novak Djokovic stormed into the quarterfinals of the US Open by beating Marcel Granollers 6-3, 6-0, 6-0, while Australia's Lleyton Hewitt's fairytale run came to an end with a five-set loss to Russia's Mikhail Youzhny.
In other matches, Czech Tomas Berdych made his way out of the Open by losing to Swiss Stanislas Wawrinka 6-3, 1-6, 6-7, 2-6.
Djokovic will now face Youzhny in the quarterfinals, while Wawrinka awaits the winner of the match between Andy Murray and Denis Istomin.
