Novak Djokovic is known for his on-court antics, but this time he has elevated it to a next level as he climbed up to his supporters box and screamed 'This is Sparta' from the action flick '300' right into actor Gerard Butler's face after his US Open win.
Djokovic clinched his 10th career major and a third of the year after battling past not only the Swiss second seed but a pro-Federer crowd with a 6-4, 5-7, 6-4, 6-4 win in a pulsating finale at Flushing Meadows on Sunday.
According to News.com.au, Djokovic said that watching the iconic slaughterfest flick with his team on the eve of his showdown with Federer helped him overcome the 34-year-old Swiss maestro.
An ecstatic Djokovic climbed up from the crowd to celebrate his victory with the team and pulled Butler into a bearhug and then screamed the movie's catchphrase: "This is Sparta" right at the actor.
The tennis-actor duo teamed up to roar the phrase again at the post-match conference.
The Serbian also admitted that he had to produce his best level to beat the best player in the history of the game.
