World number one Novak Djokovic cruised to his fifth Australian Open final by defeating defending champion Stanislas Wawrinka in a dramatic five-set contest in Melbourne.

Djokovic sets up the tournament's final clash against sixth seed Andy Murray by trouncing Swiss opponent Wawrinka 7-6, 3-6, 6-4, 4-6, 6-0 in three hours and 30 minutes.

The Serbian smashed 27 winners to Wawrinka's 42, but the Swiss committed 69 unforced errors during the match.

Djokovic has beaten Murray twice in 2011 and 2013 for the title.
