The Congress Party on Thursday took a jibe at the Centre for going ahead with the NSA-level talks with Pakistan, saying that there would not be any significant outcome from the meet.

"This is a meeting on terrorism and security between the National security advisors of India and Pakistan, I can't even call it a talk,"Congress leader Meem Afzal told ANI here.

"When the Prime Ministers of both the countries couldn't get to a conclusion, what outcome can be expected from the talks?" he added.

Attacking Prime Minister Narendra Modi for going back on his word in dealing with Pakistan, Afzal said "the government had earlier denied dialogues with Pakistan until the ceasefire violations stopped on the border, but PM Modi himself overturned his stand and went ahead to meet Nawaz Sharif in Ufa and initiated the NSA-level talks."

He further criticized the NDA government for its incessant need to hold talks with Pakistan.

The NSA-level talk is scheduled on August 23 with Pakistan National Security Advisor Sartaj Aziz, who will be in the national capital for talks with his Indian counterpart Ajit Doval.
