In an exchange of fire between District Reserve Group (DRG) team from Narayanpur and the Naxals near Kilam jungle area of Chhottedongar Police Station, seven naxals were killed, including three women, on Tuesday.
Huge amount of arms and ammunition have also been recovered- like INSAS rifles, 12 bore rifle, 315 bore rifles, 12 bore pistol and few other explosive materials.
The bodies have been identified as Nasik, Somji, Janvati, Jamni, Baldev, Ram Singh and Raimati.
Confirming the news, Special Director General of Police (anti-Maoist operations), DM Awasthi said the clash took place in the forests of Pushpal village of Narayanpur.
"Many Naxals have been killed in the encounter; seven dead bodies, two rifles, and many weapons and other things have been recovered. Based on a tip off Narayanpur districts DRG and its forces were sent. This is a big success. The forces have gone in the dangerous areas and completed their task. Since 2016 many naxals have been killed & many weapons have been recovered," said Awasthi.
Pushpal, which falls in restive Abhujmad area, is located around 350 km from the state capital Raipur. After the guns fell silent, the security forces searched the area and recovered the bodies of seven naxals.
The operation was planned by Abishek Meena, Superintendent of Police Narayanpur, in co-ordination with Superintendent of Police Dantewada.
The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) troops from Barsur provided required assistance.
Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh Raman Singh and senior officials had congratulated the troops for this remarkable achievement.
