A drunken Manchester United fan had reportedly called the local police station on 999 and demanded to speak to former manager Sir Alex Ferguson after the Old Trafford side's exit from the League Cup in the semifinals.
United was knocked out on penalties by Sunderland at Old Trafford on Wednesday night, the latest in a string of disappointing results for the reigning Premier League champions.
According to News.com.au, responding to the call, the police released a statement telling the fan that although it might a 'sad and depressing' moment for him when his football team loses a game, however the 999 is to be used for emergencies only.
The statement further said that if the man would like to speak to Ferguson about recent football results, then he should try ringing United directly as he would 'probably' have a better chance of getting through to him there rather than ringing the police.
