Two-time Wimbledon champion Rafael Nadal continued his struggles with form as he was given an early exit for the fourth time in a row, after German qualifier Dustin Brown defeated him in the second round of the Championships.
The 14-time Grand Slam champion was beaten 7-5, 3-6, 6-4, 6-4 by the world number 102 ranked player on the Centre court, the BBC reported.
Brown now has a 2-0 record against Nadal, having beaten the Spaniard on grass in Halle in 2014.
It was Nadal's first ever defeat to a qualifier at a Grand Slam and came in the aftermath of losing his French Open crown, where he had been champion nine times.
Meanwhile, seven-time champion Roger Federer and third seed Andy Murray advanced to the third round after their easy wins over Sam Querrey (USA) and Robin Haase (Netherlands) respectively.
In men's doubles, the Indian-Serbian pair of Mahesh Bhupathi and Janko Tipsarevic was knocked out of the first round after losing in straight sets against Austrian Jurgen Melzer and Swedish Robert Lindstedt 3-6, 3-6, 2-6.
