The Janata Dal (United) on Monday said that it is the duty of the Election Commission of India (ECI) to prove its impartiality after the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) claimed that it has its control over the EC.
"It is the duty of the Election Commission to prove its impartiality. It should ask Manjhi to vacate his residence for holding press conferences in government residence. An unclad game is going on here," JD (U) leader Ajay Alok told ANI.
"He said right. Correctly he said that Election Commission is in grip of BJP. PM is sitting there, so Election Commission is in the grip," Alok said while commenting on Bengal BJP leader's statement on the EC.
"It's quite evident in Bihar. Former chief minister Jitan Ram Manjhi has been conducting press conferences at his official residence. Who will bear its expenses? No notice is given to Manjhi after that," he added.
West Bengal BJP leader Joy Banerjee on Sunday said that his party has control over the EC and that it would ensure there were enough central forces to oversee the poll process in the state next year.
He further said that if the BJP wins the Bihar polls, it would run a bulldozer in Bengal in the next elections.
