Eastman Auto and Power Limited (EAPL), a leading company in energy storage and solar solutions, has embarked on a nationwide campaign to sensitize common populace about the benefits of e-rickshaw batteries.
Conceptualized with the objective of creating awareness about the usage and maintenance of e-rickshaw batteries, the campaign was initiated in West Bengal in the first phase. In the second phase, the company is targeting to sensitize thousands of people across Uttar Pradesh and Haryana.
The intention of this campaign is to educate and empower the e-rickshaw sellers, battery sellers, spare part sellers and E Rickshaw owners so that they benefit in their day-to-day business.
The campaign is titled as 'Mobility Sales and Service Partner (MSSP) program'. It makes attendees aware of the technical know-how in handling an e-rickshaw battery, maintaining battery health and taking preventive actions to prolong battery life and performance. Under this campaign EAPL is providing the requisite training to trade partners and entrusting them to be the after-sales service point for E-Rickshaw batteries, as this is the most important need of this segment.
The company plans to take this campaign in its second phase to key cities that already have a growing e-rickshaw population. This campaign will be launched in Lucknow, Varanasi, Ghaziabad, Dehradun, Udaipur, Indore, Patna, Bhagalpur, Ranchi, Jamshedpur, Delhi, Gurgaon and Panipat in the second phase.
Urbanization is at its peak in India. The introduction of Metro in the last decade has made commuting easier for longer distances. E-Rickshaws dovetail beautifully as the last mile public conveyance with zero pollution in this entire equation.
"E-vehicles are the future of India's transport roadmap. This one-of a-kind initiative will not only apprise relevant stakeholders about the benefits of using the e-rickshaw battery but also create awareness on the need to switch to cleaner mode of transport in the quest for a greener planet," said Saurabh Srivastava - President, Marketing and Product Strategy - Eastman Auto & Power Limited.
The campaign is in line with the Indian government's target to achieve 6-7 million EVs on Indian roads by 2020 and 100% electric mobility by 2030.
So far, cities such as Berhampur, Bardhaaman, Barasat, Howrah, Midnapur, Siliguri, Cooch Behar, Katwa and Nadia have witnessed the revolutionary wave of the campaign by EAPL. The campaign has received a heartening response and has touched the lives of over 400 people and sensitized them.
"This campaign is playing a significant role in educating us about the usage of tubular e-rickshaw batteries. It can be regarded as a step forward in the direction of ushering an electric vehicle revolution in India," said Shamal Kumar Saha, a trade partner.
EAPL has also created a bespoke video that in a user-friendly manner demonstrates steps to be taken for the maintenance of e-rickshaw batteries.
