ECI to host 5th National Voters' Day on January 25

The Election Commission of India (ECI) will be celebrating the 5th National Voters' Day (NVD) across the country on January 25 with the theme 'Easy Registration, Easy Correction'.

The national function will be held at weight lifting auditorium of Jawahar Lal Nehru Stadium and presided over by former president Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam.

The chief guest will give away awards for the Best Electoral Practices to Chief Electoral Officers and District Election Officers.

Awards will also be given to media houses and civil society organizations for best campaign in voters' education and awareness.

January 25 is also the foundation day of the Commission, which came into being on this day in 1950. The Commission's objective through NVD is to increase the enrolment of voters, especially of the newly eligible ones.

The National Voters' Day is also utilized to spread awareness among voters regarding effective participation in the electoral process.
