A militant was killed on Saturday during a fierce gun battle between the security forces and the ultras in Kashmir, after the security personnel blasted off the rebel's hideout.
Security forces encircled the residential house in Pulwama district where the militants held up, the militants opened fire, which was retaliated by the security forces.
The militants and the security forces exchanged rounds of gunfire, forcing the personnel later to use explosives to destroy the rebel's hideout.
The Deputy Inspector General of Police, Vijay Kumar confirmed that one militant was killed during the encounter.
"Police, Central Reserve Police Force and Army launched a search operation and firing started. A militant has been killed during the encounter. We knew that one militant was hiding and he might have escaped during night," said Kumar.
