The World Cup opener between England and Australia is reportedly all set to witness record attendance at Melbourne as 90,000 people are expected to fill the MCG on Saturday's high-octane clash.
World Cup chief executive John Harnden said that they had sold more than 825,000 tickets to date, and were well on their way to having more than a million fans attend, News.com.au reported.
The upcoming much-anticipated clash is poised to break the previous World Cup record crowd of 87,182 at the 1992 MCG final between Pakistan and England.
Owing to the limited number of seats, the standing-room tickets had been released to meet demand, the report added.
