England won the fourth one-day international against Australia by three wickets in Cardiff on Saturday, boosted by an unbeaten half-century by batsman Jos Buttler, to set up a series decider for Monday.
Buttler guided England, chasing 228 for victory, home in Cardiff with three balls to spare after hitting 65 including a six off Mitchell Johnson in the final over.
According to Sport24, the five-game series is tied between the two arch-rivals at 1-1 after the first and third games were washed out by rain.
The report mentioned that although England had to suffer the losses of star batsman Kevin Pietersen and his teammates Jonathan Trott and Joe Root in a hat-trick by Australian fast bowler Clint McKay, however, the hosts recovered with opener Michael Carberry and captain Eoin Morgan sharing a century stand of 104.
After both Carberry and Morgan were bowled out, young all-rounder Ben Stokes joined Buttler and the pair added 75 to take the hosts to the brink of victory, following which Australia became all out at 227.
McKay became only the fifth Australian to take a hat-trick in one-day internationals, while his teammate Nathan Coulter-Nile's took his first ODI victim in Morgan, the report added.
