Ex-intern's standoff with Jay- Z over $30m worth master recordings

Jay- Z is reportedly being blackmailed by an ex-intern, who allegedly is in the possession of his 50 original master recordings made between 2002 and 2003 and valued at more than 30 million dollars.

An insider told New York Post that the guy wanted cash and told the rapper's Roc Nation that if they did not pay up, the storage in Northridge, California, which houses the recordings - which include masters of tracks like 'I Just Wanna Love U (Give It 2 Me)' and 'Holla' - would be put up for auction by facility's owners.

After hearing of the threat, company execs reportedly sent a staffer to meet the former-intern at the lockup on Thursday and agreed to pay 2,500 dollars to open the unit.

Inside, they found many of the masters recording which the former intern had listed on his e-mail and called cops, however, police said that as the master tapes were never reported missing or stolen they cannot do anything until a report was filed in New York.

The source added that the 44-year-old rapper owned the rights to his master recordings where some of those in question were songs that were out, and some were not heard publicly, and there were also some tracks which Jay-Z would not like getting out.

The LAPD has been released pending further investigation.
