Ex-Oz coach Arthur says Warner's attitude can 'make or break team'

Former Australian coach Mickey Arthur has said that controversial batsman David Warner's attitude has the potential to make or break the team, even as Cricket Australia (CA) continues its search for the next Test captain

Warner was one of a handful of players given leadership training during Arthur's tenure but he has lost a huge amount of ground this year, struggling with discipline and form.

According to the Sydney Morning Herald, although Warner's nightclub punch before the Ashes was the final trigger in Arthur's sacking, he however, believes that Warner can be a vital international cricketer if he improves his behaviour, although he admitted that the batsman's negative attitude has the potential to break a team.

The report mentioned that others who completed leadership work included Twenty20 captain George Bailey, former vice-captain Shane Watson, new Victorian captain Matthew Wade and, more recently, rising batsman Steve Smith.

Meanwhile, team performance boss Pat Howard said that although there would also be a leadership camp later in the summer, both he and coach Darren Lehmann are confident the next captain will reveal himself as players develop, adding that most young players had been given some form of leadership experience over the past 18 months.
