The chief financial officer of Cricket South Africa (CSA) has given his assurances that the finances of the board are in a healthy state even as it approaches the end of its four-year cycle
The main revenue streams for CSA included broadcasting rights, sponsorships, profits from the ICC Champions League Trophy and International Cricket Council (ICC) distributions.
According to Sport24, CFO Naasei Appiah said that they are confident that they have the reserves on hand to see them through the to the end of 2013/14 season, adding that the forecast had been based on the Future Tours Programme (FTP), which included a full end-of-year tour by India.
Stating that tours against India and England were the most lucrative, Appiah also said that although their revenue stream fluctuated, their expenses have remained steady, taking inflation into account, with best years including the ICC World Cup and tours against India.
However, the report mentioned that one of the remaining concerns for CSA was the financial situation at the individual affiliates and franchises countrywide, many of which were running at a loss.
But, CSA chief executive Haroon Lorgat said that he was confident the provinces would co-operate as they have 'seriously skilled' personnel in place and have started to introduce better controls.
