Social networking giant Facebook has announced that its Managing Director in India, Kirthiga Reddy, will step down and return to the United States.
Reddy will return to 'explore new opportunities' at the company's headquarters in Menlo Park, California.
'Would be relocating in the next 6-12 months,' Reddy confirmed in a Facebook post.
"As she had planned for some time, Kirthiga Reddy is moving back to the U.S. to work with the teams in Headquarters. During her time in India, Kirthiga was not involved in our Free Basic Services efforts," a Facebook spokesperson said.
The move comes days after the Telecom regulator TRAI rejected differential pricing for data services in India, a setback to Facebook's plan to roll out a pared-back free Internet service.
