Grieving family members of the ten personnel of the Border Security Force (BSF) who lost their lives in a plane crash in Outer Delhi's Dwarka area yesterday, today demanded that all outdated planes of the paramilitary force be replaced immediately.
"He (victim) used to tell my sister (his wife) about problems of related to maintenance of equipment and that the government wasn't buying new planes for them. We demand that outdated planes be replaced. We do not want this tragedy to happen to someone else," said a relative of a Dwarka plane crash victim.
"We demand seat reservation for paramilitary personnel so that our children get benefits. When it comes to welfare, the paramilitaries are sidelined," said another relative.
Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Wednesday paid tribute to Border Security Force (BSF) plane crash victims at Safdarjung Airport.
Minister of State for Home Affairs Kiren Rijiju and Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung also paid their tributes to the victims.
All ten passengers onboard were killed after the Ranchi-bound BSF Superking aircraft crashed at Bagdola village in Sector 8 of Dwarka here on Tuesday morning.
The BSF had yesterday announced Rs. 20 lakhs to the BSF family members from BSF's internal insurance fund in addition to what the government will announce.
