Fans have been pouring in their grief after the news broke out that 'The Overtones' singer Timmy Matley has passed away.
A fan wrote, "I still can't get my head round the fact that Timmy is gone. Doesn't seem real. He was such a lovely guy, my heart goes out to @the_overtones and all his family and friends. So many people will miss him. RIP Timmy x #timmymatley".
Another fan tweeted, "Devastated to hear the news of Timmy! Was lucky enough to work with @the_overtones at Langwith Lodge Party In The Park. Absolute lovely man. Memories of him doing his knitting. Such a loss. #timmymatley #theovertones".
One post read, "As a massive @the_overtones fan, I'm gutted to hear of the death of #TimmyMatley. I've been to a number of their concerts and they were all lovely down to earth guys RIP Timmy".
"Woke up after a disruptive night of sleep still got my headache but need to go to work and wondering how to get through the day when all I can think is how are the boys and how is Mammy Mately and family. The world is a different place today without #TimmyMatley", wrote another fan.
One user posted, "NUMB SHATTERED HEART @TimMatley I will love you always & forever. RIP my beautiful friend XXX @the_overtones #TimmyMatley #Angel".
The statement was shared on the vocal group's official Twitter handle. It read, "It is with the greatest sadness that we have to announce that our dear friend and brother Timmy has passed away. We know this news will be as heartbreaking for you all as it is for us. We appreciate your love and support at this difficult time. Mike, Darren, Mark & Lachie x".
The Irish singer passed away on April 11, aged 36, following a two year battle with a rare form of skin cancer.
Matley found fame as a member of the five-piece singing group, The Overtones in 2010 for chartbuster songs such as 'Gambling Man', 'The Longest Time', and 'Can't Take My Eyes Off You'.
