Federal Alliance seeks formal letter for talks from PM Oli govt

The Federal Alliance on Friday said that it would sit for talks if Prime Minister K.P. Sharma Oli led- government sent a formal letter in the name of Alliance.

The decision was made during a meeting held this morning.

The Alliance also decided to launch province and district-centric protests in the next phase of protest programmes, reports the Himalayan Times.

The alliance of more than two dozen parties including constituents of the United Democratic Madhesi Front, had earlier, protested for two consecutive days outside Singha Durbar, and one day outside the Oli's official residence in Baluwatar to exert pressure on the government to address their demands.

Among others, their central demand includes rewriting of the Constitution to ensure proportional representation of all ethnic groups.

The Federal Alliance, which has been spearheading the agitation against the constitution, had, a few days ago, written to Oli a 26-point letter urging him to meet conditions to prepare an environment for talks.
