Swiss tennis ace Roger Federer has beaten Grigor Dimitrov 6-3, 7-6 in their first ever meeting on tour to advance to the semi-finals of the ATP Swiss Indoors in Basel.
According to TennisWorldUSA.org, Federer, who is closing in on a berth in the ATP World Tour Finals, won the first set 6-3 but found himself go down an early break in the second set while Dimitrov held on that break till 5-4 as he went out to serve for the second set.
However, it was there that Federer showed his experience, breaking the Bulgarian to get back to 5-5, the report said.
The set went down to a tiebreaker, which Federer easily won 7-2, the report added.
Federer was 3 of 5 on break points whereas Dimitrov had 10 chances to break Federer's serve but converted only one, the report further sad.
He will meet rising Canadian Vasek Pospisil in the semi finals on Saturday, according to the report.
