American filmmaker Kevin Smith shared a selfie on Twitter after surviving a "massive heart attack".
The 47-year-old actor-podcaster tweeted a photo from his hospital bed just after midnight, Pacific time, on Monday.
Reportedly, Smith was shooting for 'Kevin Smith Live!', a standup comedy show, at the Alex Theatre on Sunday Night. He only shot for one as he felt uncomfortable and decided to cancel the second one.
"After the first show this evening, I had a massive heart attack. The Doctor who saved my life told me I had 100% blockage of my LAD artery (aka "the Widow-Maker"). If I hadn't canceled show 2 to go to the hospital, I would've died tonight. But for now, I'm still above ground!", wrote Smith.
The 'Cop Out, 'Jersey Girl' and 'Chasing Amy' star is currently hosting and producing AMC's 'Comic Book Men' in New Jersey. His last feature film as a director was 'Yoga Hosiers' in 2016.
Following the news, his friends from the industry poured their concern over the internet.
American actor Chris Pratt wrote, "Kevin we don't know each other too good but I have loved you since Clerks and I'm praying my ass off for you cause I believe in the healing power of prayer. Can you please pray with me people!?"
Actor Sean Francis tweeted, "I keep reading this in shock. Damn. It's an understatement to say, but myself and so many others are glad you cancelled and are recovering. Sending love to you and yours."
Writer and columnist Moises Chiullan wrote, "Glad you took care of yourself and got looked at, sir. You aren't done causing trouble and making people smile. Here's to speedy recovery and good days ahead. Save me a hug at the next con we're at, don't give them all out before I see you."
Producer Zach D Roberts wrote, "Get better now, @ThatKevinSmith! We need you for all the laughs, all your wonderful toys and of course your wonderful touching monologues at the end of your movies. #SNOOGANS".
