The impending flood threat near the Kosi river basin of Bihar has abated now even as the evacuation of villagers to a safer place is in progress. The flood threat began due to the landslide in Nepal.

The situation has been averted after the latter's decision to widen holes through debris and regulate water flow, said disaster management department on Tuesday.

But villagers who were evacuated still remain dejected about the help they have been provided.

A villager who had left his village because of flood warning told ANI, "The situation is very bad in village. I don't know where will I stay or do."

"Whatever help will be provided by the government, we will take it," he added.

Another villager, Sudhamahadevi, said, "The village is filled up with water. So we have to leave the place. We have come here by the steamer boat."

A disappointed man from the same village told ANI, "Water has entered the house resulting in land erosion. We have got no help from the government till now."

When asked why they are not heading to the relief camps, he said, "We are not provided with any facility or help. So, we have to manage on our own only."

A huge evacuation drive was launched in eight districts of Bihar following the flood threat and the state government was also put on high alert.

Bihar Government was taking action for evacuation of persons living in villages lying within the embankment area in 22 panchayats of Supaul district and other seven districts of the state.

The Prime Minister had directed that all possible help should be provided to the affected areas. Eight teams of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and four teams of the State Disaster Response Force were also pressed into service.
