In the wake of rising pollution level in the national capital, Delhi Health Minister Satyendra Jain on Wednesday said that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government is taking all steps to cleanse the environment.

With the national capital waking up to a heavily foggy Wednesday, Jain squarely blamed the fog for the deteriorating air quality saying that pollution level rises whenever the air flow slows down.

"We are implementing all our decisions which we took in the past. We are fining people who are burning leaves with challan and we are adopting measures to put a control on dust. This condition is because of the fog, whenever the air flow slows down the pollution increases," said Jain.

National capital witnessed season's first fog today, adversely effecting the air quality.

After witnessing steep rise in minimum temperatures not only wintry chill will make a comeback but pollution levels will also increase again.

According to reports, air pollution levels are likely to increase manifold and air quality index which is already in 'unhealthy' category may come in 'severe' category again.

The Met reports that with this development, not only wintry chill will make a comeback but pollution levels are also expected to spike.

However, the sudden change in weather conditions has also hit flights and trains as many of them have either cancelled or re-scheduled its services.
