Key football figures have paid their tributes football star David Beckham after he announced his retirement from international football.
Twitter saw tributes to the football legend pouring in globally as Beckham plans to end his playing career, the Mirror reports.
Beckham has also been praised as a great ambassador for his country by UK Prime Minister David Cameron who said that Beckham has helped the country win London Olympics in 2012.
England national team's manager Roy Hodgson has also wished well for the football star saying that he has had a glittering career and an iconic status.
Stating that one of the most iconic figures in global football is retiring, FIFA president Sepp Blatter said that an amazing story would end here, following his retirement.
One of Beckham's former clubs, AC Milan wrote on their websites that one of Milan's most famous fans and an impeccable professional is about to retire, whose performances as a player even won over the non-believers.
Former England international player Gary Lineker has said that Beckham has been a wonderful player, a global superstar and a magnificent ambassador for England and football.
Beckham's former team-mate Gary Neville congratulated him and said that it has been a pleasure for him to work with Beckham who has always enjoyed the game.
