Foreign secretary-level meeting between India, Pak likely in Feb

A senior Pakistani official has claimed that the country's foreign secretary will hold a meeting with his Indian counterpart in February.

According to the Dawn, the official said that its dates had not been finalised.

The January 15 meeting, which had to decide the timetable and modalities of the resumed peace dialogue, was postponed after a terrorist attack on an airbase in Pathankot.

Senior officials from both sides have been in touch with each other for rescheduling the meeting.

After a series of high-level contacts starting with an ice-breaking meeting in Paris between Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and his Indian counterpart Narendra Modi and climaxing with the latter's surprise trip to Lahore, Pakistan and India had agreed last month to resume the bilateral dialogue after a hiatus of two years because of tensions along the Line of Control and Working Boundary.

The resumed dialogue was named Comprehensive Bilateral Dialogue and it was agreed that the foreign secretaries of the two countries would meet on January 15 to decide about the timetable and modalities of the process.
