Pakistan's head coach Dav Whatmore has reportedly accepted veteran spinner Saeed Ajmal's apology over his comments that Whatmore is no better than a local coach, saying that Ajmal had merely 'fallen prey' to a few 'tricky questions'.

Ajmal had denigrated Whatmore by saying that there is no difference between Whatmore and a local coach, apart from their pay packets and languages, and hailed former Pakistan internationals Waqar Younis and Mohsin Khan for handling the players better during their coaching stints.

According to the Sydney Morning Herald, Whatmore promptly tweeted that he was 'deeply hurt and upset' by Ajmal's comments, following which Ajmal personally apologised to the former Australian player.

Stating that he has accepted Ajmal's apology, Whatmore hailed Ajmal as a 'very nice person' and said that he had fallen prey to a few tricky questions.

In the interview, Ajmal had said that the senior players should be consulted before coaches are hired, whether they are foreign or local.
