French journalist Nicolas Henin, a freed Islamic State hostage and former cellmate of the four beheaded journalist says that he still can't get over the horrors of his captivity in Syria.

According to News.com.au, in an interview with ITV, Henin said the murders of former cellmates James Foley, Steven Sotloff, David Haines and Alan Henning had brought back "brutal" memories.

He said that he did not feel free despite being released.

Henin, was particularly close with murdered Britons Haines and Henning, said that his mind was still somewhere in a cell in Syria and that the news of his former cellmates being beheaded took him back months before.

Henin said that he felt for the families of the hostages, adding that the worst thing was not knowing anything, and not being able to do anything.
