Former Haryana chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda on Sunday termed the rape and murder of a 28-year-old mentally challenged woman as 'heinous crime' and called for a strict action against the perpetrators.
He also appealed to the people to give any information that they might have in this matter to the police immediately.
"This is a heinous crime committed by the culprit; they should be brought to the book. They should be punished in such a manner so that nobody can dare to do such crime in the future," Hooda told ANI.
"I appeal to the people of the state, whoever gets any information should immediately come forward. This is slur on society; we are ashamed as a society," he added.
Hooda also alleged that the law and order situation in the state has been deteriorating in recent times.
Earlier, unidentified men had raped the 28-year-old before brutally killing her in the Bahu Akbarpur area of the Rohtak district in Haryana.
The woman's body was reportedly found on Wednesday with key organs missing and with sticks, stones and condoms stuffed into her private parts three days after she went missing.
