Former Singapore finance minister George Yeo will take over as the Chancellor of the Nalanda University, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) confirmed on Saturday.
MEA official spokesperson Vikas Swarup took to twitter to share this information.
"A New Chancellor in Nalanda. George Yeo, former FM of Singapore is to be the new Chancellor of Nalanda University," he tweeted.
Yeo has been one of the key proponents in reviving the university and is reportedly on its 12-member governing board. He will take over from Nobel laureate Amartya Sen.
