Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard is reportedly regarding retirement as an option after he plays for the England national squad at the World Cup after his Premier League club told him that he would not be offered a new contract.

Speculations are that Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich exercised his rights to rule out a new one-year deal for Lampard, as the Russian is reportedly keen for boss Jose Mourinho to build a much younger team at the club, which would be a huge blow for the midfielder, who turns 36 next month.

According to the Daily Star, despite the owner's decision Lampard, who has been with Chelsea for 13 years and is the club's record scorer with 147 goals, is seemingly unlikely to move abroad with his wife-to-be, Christine Bleakley developing her TV career, even though LA Galaxy and New York City being keen on landing the midfielder.

Meanwhile, Lampard's uncle, Harry Redknapp, would reportedly love to have his former West Ham player with him at Queens Park Rangers, but the midfielder's decision to quit his career along with Rangers' plans to keep their finances in check might prevent any deal from happening.
