French Open has increased its prize money pool to 28 million euros, which is an overall increase of three million euros from last year's pool money, with singles champions each set to earn 1.8 million euros (1.29m pounds).
Although the prize pot has been raised, Roland Garros tournament still remains the least financially rewarding Grand Slams of all.
The French tennis federation managing director Gilbert Ysern said that players eliminated in the first week would be the principal beneficiaries, Stuff.co.nz reported.
While Singles champions at this year's Australian Open earned 1.56 million pounds, winners at Wimbledon received 1.7 million pounds.
Moreover, US Open singles champions earned 2.03 million pounds last year.
