American actor Gabrielle Union shared a heart touching video of her one-month-old daughter Kaavia James Union Wade's birth journey.
Gabrielle's first child with basketballer husband Dwyane Wade came to the world on November 7 and was born via surrogacy.
The couple shared the birth video of their "miracle baby" in a heartfelt Instagram post.
"Every family is unique. How each family is created and comes together is special. Kaavia James Union Wade's journey into our arms was long and at times brutal. There were heartbreaks that nearly broke us and streams of tears that turned into raging rivers. And then came Kaavia James. This is our birth journey. Thank you all for the love, support and understanding and all the people who held us up when we lost hope. Watch it with love. Watch it with hope," she explained in the caption that the road to Kaavia's birth was not easy.
In the video, the couple gave glimpses into the months leading up to Kaavia's birth and why they went the surrogate route. Union, who has been vocal about fertility struggles she faced over the years-including having "eight or nine" miscarriages said, "It just feels like a lot of shame. Just years of shame and humiliation and betrayal of your body. It's so many emotions."
She explained that although she had the possibility of receiving a baby, the chances of getting pregnant were still slim.
The 'Bring It On' actor also worried that she would lack a special "bond" with her baby as she wasn't carrying Kaavia herself.
Wade, who is already a father to three other kids with Siohvaughn Funches, too, chimed in on the surrogacy process.
