Former England international Paul Gascoigne, popularly known as Gazza, has reportedly spent three weeks on a gin bender before he was rushed to the hospital.

Gazza's friends revealed that the former England footballer lay in bed necking Gordon's from the bottle in his flat in Bournemouth. A friend said that Gazza has been drinking for about three weeks.

Another friend of Gazza revealed that he saw him drinking neat gin straight from the bottle in his bed, adding that he was off his face a proper mess, The Mirror reported.

Gazza was rushed to Poole Hospital on Thursday after being found slumped outside his flat, clutching a bottle of gin and was told that he needed to stay in hospital for four days but on Monday he was still there, according to reports.

The former Tottenham Hotspur, Queens Park Rangers and Lazio midfielder is thought to have turned back to drink after despairing at a number of failed business deals that had left him broke. He had also hoped to work as a pundit during the World Cup but was knocked back by several TV channels.

And he was upset that he had not received any offers to appear on reality shows like Celebrity Big Brother.

A source said that Over the last few years Gazza has had many offers to appear on reality TV shows but decided against it, and added that this year, when he could do with the money, he's not heard anything.

A friend said that it is a dreadfully sad situation, adding that Gazza is at rock bottom with no money. The friend said that he needs help, which he is willing to take, but it would cost thousands of pounds in treatment and he simply doesn't have the cash.
