George RR Martin fantasy novel series, A Song of Ice and Fire, which have also been adapted as the HBO hit TV series 'Game of Thrones', may be extended to eight books.
During a Q and A session with fans, Anne Groell, the 65-year-old author's editor, said that Martin's classic tale had started as a trilogy, which she had pushed for 7 books, as there should have been "seven books for seven kingdoms", the Independent reported.
But she recently came across the fact that technically there were eight kingdoms, hinting at the possibility of another book.
Groell also said that the author was currently working on the series' sixth book, The Winds of Winter, for which she'll reveal the publication date when she has it.
But as for now, Martin is confirmed to be under contract for only seven books.
