England captain Steven Gerrard has revealed that Rooney has confided in him about his doubtful future at Manchester United but said that the English striker is ready to have a go in the Wednesday's friendly against Scotland.
According to the BBC, Gerrard expressed that Rooney had impressed the rest of the squad in training, ahead of the first meeting between England and Scotland since 1999 at Wembley.
However, the Liverpool player said that Rooney was not completely match fit but looked good while scoring goals in training and ready to play.
Gerrard refused to disclose details of the striker's conversation with him about his future at Old Trafford, saying he was close to Rooney and it would not be fair on his part.
