Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Mukul Roy has appealed to the people to give a befitting reply to the Communist Party of India (Marxist) CPIM-led Left Front government by voting against them in the polls, for not developing Tripura.
Addressing an election rally and campaigning for TMC candidate Prakash Das in the Barjala and Khowai constituencies, Roy said, "law and order has totally collapsed and there has been no development in Tripura during the Left regime under Manik Sarkar."
"If Mamata can give food security, create employment, provide health security. Why can't Manik Sarkar do all those during his long tenure in Tripura?"
Roy said, "One thing is very clear that during the last 23 years the Left Government has failed in every aspect. So people should give a befitting reply. It is the time to vote against them. I think the All India Trinamool Congress will do better and we will come up winners in this by-election."
Roy said in all sectors, be it education, agriculture, employment, health, law and order, has seen the Tripura government fail. However, the state is on top in women atrocity.
Roy also met leaders of anti-Left political parties to them to come onto one platform to fight against misrule of Tripura.
The seats fell vacant respectively after Congress MLA Jiten Sarkar resigned from the post while another CPI(M) MLA Samir Deb Sarkar died on August 28.
