Bharatiya Kisan Union general secretary Yudhir Singh, who met Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh here today, said the government has promised to listen to the woes of the farmers.

"We told the government that the farmers are upset and that they should listen to them and makes laws more farmer-friendly. We had come to ask them for time and they are very positive. They asked us to prepare a draft post which they will meet and listen to us," said Singh.

"The Bharatiya Kisan Union has called farmers from 35 organizations for a meet on February 23 to discuss the Land Ordinance Bill. After the farmers meet, we will convey the apprehensions and views of farmers to the government," he added.

The Bharatiya Kisan Union general secretary further said that they have their own apprehensions about the Land Ordinance, adding that they have nothing to do with veteran social activist Anna Hazare.

We are upset and have our own apprehensions about the Land Ordinance. Our views were not taken by the government but we have nothing to do with Anna," he said.

Meanwhile, a Jansatyagrah Padyatra, which has been started by Anna on Friday from Palwal in Haryana, has reached near Ballabhgarh. The Jansatyagrah Padyatra, which is expected to reach Faridabad later this evening, has been organised under the banner of PV Rajagopal's Ekta Parishad against the Central Government to assert their rights over lands that is also their livelihood.

Over 5000 farmers and tribes from various states are participating in the foot march.

The march will reach at Jantar Mantra in the next three days, where Anna will demand withdrawal of amendments to the Land Acquisition Ordinance.
