Govt. to provide funds to set up marine police training institute in Gujarat: Rajnath Singh

Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh said on Wednesday that the government has decided to set a marine police training institute in Porbander, Gujarat, so that more people can get coastal security training.

Singh said this during a visit to an Indian Coast Guard Ship (ICGS) warship. He said the government will provide all the required funds as soon as the land is finalized for the institute.

"The coast guard is performing its duties and playing a very important role in protecting our country. I congratulate the officials on behalf of the country. We have decided to establish a marine police training institute here and are looking for land, we will provide the funds as soon as the land is finalized," said Singh.

He also assured that the government will provide required facilities and said that fishermen security is their priority.

"Apart from security of the nation this place is also important because 70 percent of the crude oil comes to the country from this route. Therefore, its safety is very important. The government will take all possible measures to strengthen coastal security," he added.

Singh also visited Mahatma Gandhi's ashram in Porbandar and described Gandhi as an inspiration for everybody. He said his views on politics, society and economics are valid even now.
