Govt. to set up teacher training institutes at block level across eight teacher deficit states

The government has decided to establish institutes of teachers training at the block level in 196 districts during the 12th Plan to strengthen teacher training capacity.

The institutes will be opened in SC/ST/Minority concentrated districts of the country. More than 690 crore rupees have been approved for the project. Of this, about one third will be invested in eight high deficit states of Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal, Assam, Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand and Madhya Pradesh.
